Coyote Anderson was born and raised in rural Sullivan County in Upstate New York. He began playing the guitar at age 12 and within a year was frequenting local blues jams. His first paid gig was playing in the pit orchestra at the Forestburgh Playhouse, which he returns to every summer to do at least one musical.
Though he started by playing rock, blues and americana music, he soon became intrigued by jazz and classical music. He moved to NYC in 2007 to begin working towards a BFA in Jazz Performance from CCNY on a full scholarship.
Being in NYC & NOLA has allowed Coyote to become incredibly versatile as both a guitarist and a composer, playing and writing in almost every genre imaginable.
During close to 10 years of playing professionally in NYC, Coyote had opportunities to study and perform with some of the best musicians the city has to offer including John Patitucci, Chris Potter, Fred Hersch and Mike Holober. He has had the honor of performing with, as well as composing and arranging for such established ensembles as The Westchester Jazz Orchestra, The Nouveau Classical Project and the BMI Jazz Composer's Workshop.
In 2016 Coyote moved to New Orleans, where he has begun to gig regularly around the city accompanying vocalists, playing in rock groups and also performing his original music with The Coyote Anderson Quartet. He is featured on upwards of thirty-five recordings as a guitarist/multi-instrumentalist and recently released his first album as a bandleader entitled 'Innervoices' on the Canopy Jazz label.
